COURTNEY STOP BEING SO CUTE OMG.

I think a good testament to how cute Ali thinks I am is the fact that she reblogged TWO photosets with moths in them. This is not an insect loving girl folks.

Not all toxic people are cruel and uncaring. Some of them love us dearly. Many of them have good intentions. Most are toxic to our being simply because their needs and way of existing in the world force us to compromise ourselves and our happiness. They aren’t inherently bad people, but they aren’t the right people for us. And as hard as it is, we have to let them go. Life is hard enough without being around people who bring you down, and as much as you care, you can’t destroy yourself for the sake of someone else. You have to make your wellbeing a priority. Whether that means breaking up with someone you care about, loving a family member from a distance, letting go of a friend, or removing yourself from a situation that feels painful — you have every right to leave and create a safer space for yourself.

So fun story:

Back in first year, my chemistry professor held these extra help tutorials for our labs and my best friend and I decided to go to them. The professor held two back-to-back on Friday nights. While we were going to the later tutorial, my friend asked me on my book which was about the French Revolution. My friend then tells me how he loves how THIS SONG is about the French Revolution. I had never heard this song before so he tells me he’ll play it for me. So we get to the classroom as the previous session is finishing up and the students are getting their stuff to leave. We sit down and my friend hands me his headphones and tells me to listen to this song. I didn’t realize though that he hadn’t changed the song over yet so I was listening to a different song than this. Confused, I commented “This doesn’t sound like the French Revolution”. However this comment was a tad bit louder than intended due to the fact that the headphones were noise cancelling. In reality, I ended up shouting “THIS DOESN’T SOUND LIKE THE FRENCH REVOLUTION”. And everyone. Everyone. Stopped and turned to look at me and the professor started talking to me in french. It was all very embarrassing but I’ve never been able to passively listen to this song ever again. If it’s playing in the grocery store, on the radio, in a movie, I always notice this song.
